Mother/Daughter Book Discussion • For girls in grades 4-6 and their moms.
Tuesday, December 17 @ 7:45 pm
This month's book is Catherine, Called Birdy by Karen Cushman.
The year is 1290. 14 year old Catherine spends most of her time cleverly avoiding housework, especially embroidery. Frustrated by all the expectations and restrictions placed on her, she longs for adventures beyond the usual roles allowed of girls. Her father insists she marry soon and presents her with one disgusting suitor after another. Will she be able to avoid being married off?
Although the situation looks hopeless, never count Birdy out when it comes to a battle of wits and will.
