Display Cases - Sculptures by Courtney Lee Weida
Courtney Lee Weida is an Assistant Professor of Art Education at Adelphi University. She is an artist and arts researcher. Her recent publications address ceramic art, studio craft, technology, and gender issues in art education. Courtney is a practicing artist within various media whose unique background in English literature and archaeology museum work has informed her art practice. She has exhibited sculptures and ceramics in numerous shows throughout the United States and online.
In this exhibit Courtney explores the relationship between art teaching histories and contemporary community arts projects. She traces the connections between her recent works of art and craft with art research projects.
Lower Concourse Gallery - Venice Views by Pam Koehler and Carolina Perrone
The works in this exhibit reflect two artists’ individual impressions of Venice, a city with its own unique elements of light, texture and sound.
Photographer Carolina Flaminia Perrone was born and raised in Italy in a busy Roman household, surrounded by music, art, journalism, and fashion. Carolina holds a Master’s degree in music composition, and writes about art and fashion for several online publications.
Pamela Koehler is an artist whose work both explores both the natural and man-made environment. She is an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Art and Art history at Adelphi University.
Helen Kraus Community Room Gallery - Portraits by Ralph Keefe
Ralph Keefe, a native of New Hampshire, settled on Long Island after service in the Air Force during World War II. He graduated from the New York Phoenix School of Design and, after several years working in a commercial art studio, he opened his own commercial studio which he maintained for 30 years. During those years he frequently did art work for advertising agencies and designed album covers and liners for record companies.Since his retirement, Ralph and has enjoyed painting for pleasure, especially portrait painting. He and his wife Joan are members of several local art clubs.

The Friends of the Library is pleased to be sponsoring the very popular Museum Pass Program by offering free passes to The Long Island Children's Museum, Cradle of Aviation Museum, Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum, Museum of Modern Art, New York Botanical Garden, Nassau County Museum of Art, and Old Westbury Gardens. Each pass will admit individuals and guests or families, making it easier than ever to reap the benefits of living in such close proximity to world class museums.
Rockville Centre Public Library cardholders may reserve museum passes in advance online or by calling the Adult Reference Desk at 766-6257, x5.
Each Museum Pass Packet, including passes and all the information you need for your visit, may be borrowed for two days from the Adult Reference Desk. Keep in mind there is a $10 late fee per day, in order to ensure that the Museum Pass Packet is available for the next patron. Museum pass kits may be placed in the bookdrop or returned, in person, to the Adult Reference Desk.
The Library encourages patrons to check museum/garden websites before their visit as days closed and operating hours are not reflected on the reservation page. Special events may have added fees which are not covered by membership and are therefore the responsibility of the patron.
Patrons can access museum websites from our Tixkeeper homepage by clicking on the particular museum. The Pass Details icon will give information on the number of adults and children that will be allowed admittance with that particular museum pass.
