Tax Filing Deadline Extended to July 15
2019 Tax Forms can be downloaded at the following sites: IRS (Federal)  and New York State Department of Taxation & Finance.

Town of Hempstead’s VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program, in which trained volunteers help prepare tax documents for free, is available on Thursdays, February 13 through April 10, 9:15 AM - 1:00 PM, by appointment. At this time, there are no available appointments.

This tax preparation help is free to seniors and low-income families (under $54,000 per year). Each preparer can work on one single or joint tax return per hour.
Patrons must bring:

  • last year's tax return
  • W-2's
  • investment information
  • Social Security Card of EVERYONE listed on form including dependents
  • a form of ID

Please come in 15 minutes early to fill out INTAKE FORM.
